About

Hello, Welcome To Drumwhill

We are Rachael and Matt and this is our dream …. and we would like to share it with you

We bought and moved to Drumwhill, on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park in 2018.. kind of by accident .. although, of course, nothing is an accident really! …and we are now custodians of and co-creators with this very special space and land here, which certainly has a lot to say!

Our desire is to create a space … a home in fact ….where everyone and everything is welcome. A haven where anything is possible, where we can live in harmony with each other and the land and life, and find our own natural organic intuitive rhythm, just like nature.

Our aim is to live and model a self-sustaining way of living, in harmony with ourselves and the nature around us, where people who come here can live in the same way. Experience what is possible and take some of that back to their own lives. Helping to create a world where the human returns to nature and works with her

This magical space is home to so many trees, plants, animals, organisms and each one of them is important in the whole ecosystem, just like each one of us.

The water we drink comes directly from a well, no added chemicals. We use what nature provides us with awareness.

Being in a remote location the first thing you notice is the peace, space and tranquillity, there are simply the sounds of nature, the birds and animals as they go about their day. At night the sky is vast and the stars shine down from every part of the sky. As your eyes adjust you see more and more until you are covered in a blanket of stars. This is a place of moving slowly, there is much to discover and explore. Take the time to sit with a cup of tea in the morning and watch as the landscape unveils itself before you. Don’t be surprised if you’re still sat there 2 hours later though.

This space is beautifully held and offers you the opportunity to come, be at home, feel welcome and relaxed and reconnect to nature, yourself and to life.

Sat within the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Biosphere, the area is internationally designated area as one with a fantastic array of landscapes, wildlife, cultural heritage and learning opportunities that SW Scotland offers for communities, businesses and visitors to experience and celebrate in a sustainable way. You can find more about our commitment to sustainability here.

So if you’re looking to get away for a holiday, a bit of me-time, to retreat, or a chance to experience something new, then join us on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park in Scotland and experience the beauty and that feeling of coming home that this wonderful place has to offer.
