“What a beautiful place. Stunning views over the loch with Red Kites wheeling overhead and Shetland ponies in the fields around. Peaceful gardens and plenty of varied walks in the area. The house is comfortable and the hospitality warm and caring.

Rachael and Matt, thanks so much for having us in your magical house and garden.  Just being here watching the birds and listening to their songs is like entering a truly relaxing world from a by-gone age.  It was incredible seeing the Kites and the Greater Spotted Woodpecker from the garden. For visitors wanting to travel further afield, we can recommend Threave Castle with osprey nest and red squirrels at a hide just outside Kirkcudbright. However the best thing is sitting on the terrace enjoying the view.”

“To Rachael and Matt, What a wonderful few days we’ve spent in your lovely cottage.  From the warm welcome we received on our arrival, to the amazing yoga workshop on Saturday, and all of the beautiful special moments spent between … our stay has been truly magical! Special thanks must go to mother nature for the amazing spectacle provided by an array of birds, bunnies and bumblebees! Wonderful! Thank you”

“Rachael and Matt, 4 nights & 3 full days!  We came with no expectations of the area but were blown away by the silence, lack of cars and people!  Red kites, Osprey, Peregrine Falcons, picturesque picnic spots at the Otter Pool along Raiders Road.  Walks to Bruce’s Stone and St Ninian’s Cave.  A pretty boat ride to Threave Castle, quiet villages, Wigtown for books, Kircudbright for artists, Kippford for the amazing shells on the beach and elderflower and gooseberry icecream, Yum!  Gatehouse of Fleet for the mill with an interesting model of the village and so much more to see and explore. Thank you so much for your hospitality

“Rachael & Matt, So we’re back again!  Another wonderful stay, we desperately needed some time “off the grid” to recharge our batteries… and that is what Drumwhill does so beautifully.  Perfect for exploring the surrounding area too, we enjoyed spending time in Gatehouse of Fleet, Kircudbright and New Galloway.  Thanks for having us back. x”

“Thank you for a lovely stay!  Just what we needed – quiet and family time away from everything! I will miss my morning cuppa watching the birds and bunnies in the garden and we also made friends with the sheep – they were letting us feed them! We had a lovely meal at The Imperial Hotel in Castle Douglas, the Steak Pie and Chips was delicious! Good luck with everything at Drumwhill

“Dear Rachael & Matt, Home from home.  We’ve enjoyed a rejuvenating and inspiring couple of days at Drumwhill, we’ve gone on long walks (& got lost!) wild swimming and kayacking on Loch Ken, stargazing outside the cottage and we were blessed with warm dry sunny weather for two days.  We’ve been lucky to see lots of wildlife including deer & foxes in addition to the awesome kites and innumerable other birds singing in the beautiful gardens.  The bungalow is warm, well equipped with gorgeous views.  We had everything we needed.  Good luck with Drumwhill.”

We had such a lovely vacation at Drumwhill . It was a cozy and inviting place to stay during the wintry evenings after a full day of exploring. We so appreciated how well stocked it was and the lovely hospitality of the hosts. We hope to be back one day. ?❤️”

Matt and Rachael have created a warm and welcoming home in a little piece of paradise. The house has wonderful views with wildlife literally on the doorstep. If you need to unwind and feel at one with nature spend some time here!

“A very warm welcome from Rachael when we arrived with a comprehensive guide of the cottage and gardens not to mention the welcome goodies in the kitchen. Such quietness and wildlife on the doorstep and we loved watching the blue tits on the nut feeder. Gentle rolling landscapes and quiet country lanes, an escape from all the busyness of life. Though the cottage is next door to the house you have your own access and so it feels quite separate and you would never know Rachael and Matt were next door. They have worked really hard in their first year to make the accommodation comfortable and with a brand new kitchen and it makes for a really pleasant stay. We look forward to following you and seeing how Drumwhill grows with you and how you grow with Drumwhill, thank you!”

“A lovely weekend in Dumfries & Galloway, staying with Rachael & Matt. I have captured many images of the wonderful wildlife spotted in their garden and surrounding area. Rachael & Matt moved here just over a year ago and offer B&B along with a cottage to rent. It is situated in an oasis of peace and serenity with wonderful views to the loch below and surrounding countryside.”
